FROM PASTOR GEORGE BEARDSLEY
RHCC Church Family,

This Sunday, June 8th, is Promotion Sunday. All of our kids and students, from TK-12th grade) will be moving up into new classes and ministries. We will celebrate by having kids and students serving, leading worship and Connor Miller, our High School Pastor, will be preaching out of Psalm 1. We are proud of the young men and women who are attending RHCC and the way they are maturing in their faith and participation in the life of the greater RHCC congregation.

Walking through this season of graduation and changes reminds me of the day I held my first born. It was over 35 years ago, and I still remember the awe, the overwhelming gratitude and the absolute terror at that moment. As Cassie and I were leaving the hospital, I remember thinking, “Do they know that we are walking out with this newborn baby, and we have no idea what we are doing?”

As we left the hospital and walked to our car, I remember thinking about all the preparation and tests I was given before I was handed a license to drive that vehicle. Now I was handed a tiny human with little to no preparation.

But Cassie and I were already committed to submit our lives to the authority of God’s word in every corner of our lives. In His word, God not only includes instructions for parents, but he provides the foundational understanding that should impact the way all of us should view the children that have been entrusted to our care.

“Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.” Psalm 127:3–5

At RHCC, we recognize that God has given children to parents as a sacred trust. We know that it is the primary responsibility of parents to shepherd, protect and train up their children in the knowledge of the Lord. The pastors, ministry staff and volunteers in our kids and student programs consider it a privilege to partner with you as live out your responsibility as godly parents.

We are grateful for all the volunteers who serve your kids and students so faithfully during the school year and we are thankful for the opportunity each summer to give them a short time off before they begin serving again in the fall.

In order to give these faithful servants a break, we need five additional volunteers at our 9:00am service and four additional volunteers at our 11:00am service. This need runs from the second Sunday in June through the last Sunday in August. That is twelve weekends to provide a break for our school year volunteers, but more importantly, to love and shepherd our children as we partner with their parents to shape them into the people God has created them to be.

We do not want to have to close classrooms this summer or provide less than excellent experiences for our kids. On that note, would you consider stepping up and serving this summer? We need people starting this coming weekend so please don’t wait to reach out and begin the application process.

If you are interested, please contact Shannon Magana at smagana@rhcc.net or click here to apply.

Blessings,

Pastor George
